SOKAN means literally "Sound of Village" in Mandingo langage.
Created in 2002 by Issa DEMBÉLÉ, Pazo DIARRA and Drissa DIARRA coming from Burkina Faso and Anio DIARRA based in Strasbourg (France).
Then with amazing "djembéfola" Fatoma DEMBÉLÉ and the magnificient dancers Evelyne MAMBO and Fanta DEMBÉLÉ.
They grew up in griot families which are in order to keep West African traditional music, dance, song and poetry.
All these artists were previously a part of famous stunned traditional band Yelemba d'Abidjan !!!
