Wilhelm Furtwanler conduct Richard Wagners complete RING in ten programmes, beginning with DAS RHEINGOLD on October 26 1953 and continuing with one act per night in sequence until November 27. A year later Furtwangler died, on November 30, 1954. EMI immediately thought of publishing the Rome RING, but there were many difficulties to overcome. After ninteen years, we may at last hear Furtwangler´s interpretation of Wagner´s RING.... Elisabeth Furtwangler
