Formed in 1967, the Genesis Group is part of the top 30 best-selling artists of all time.
Their first work is characterized by complex song structures, the complex instrumentation and theatrical antics. The founding member and lead singer Peter Gabriel left the group in 1975. It's hard to find a replacement drummer Phil Collins taking the singer functions. Following the departure of guitarist Steve Hackett, two years later, the remaining three members (Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford) are focusing in pop music more accessible. This change of style led to a huge growth in popularity of Genesis in the 1980s and early 1990s.
In 1996, Phil Collins left the group to work solo. Former Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks are moving forward with new singer Ray Wilson. One album (1997 "Calling All Stations") and Genesis received bad reviews of the new album.
In 2006, Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford Genesis are reforming and found success with "Turn It On Again".
